The following is based on my personal and professional values and code of conduct.
I will not undertake any work that risks undermining my credibility and professional standing.
Intellectual Property
As a designer the issues of protecting designs and intellectual property are an important issue and one that is very complex. Intellectual property of design work is very much a grey area, with the exception of photographs and trademarked logos which are defined and protected under law.
My personal ethics do not allow me to use unapproved photographs, artwork or copy other's exact designs. Being inspired is another matter.
Dishonesty in Advertising
The history of advertising is full of examples of dishonesty and outright lies and continues to be a major issue in the marketing world.
Under no circumstances will I engage in any assignments or contracts that I deem to be unethical or dishonest.
Environmental Issues
Whenever possible I encourage my clients to use environmentally friendly options for their printing and marketing efforts and to avoid using untargeted mass marketing printing that have limited effectiveness.
Use recycled paper!
